My students are from a low income to middle class rural school district in Ohio. I teach thirty students in sixth through eight grade in a resource room math class. All of my students are receiving special education services. They are at least three grade levels behind in math class. My students struggle on a daily bases with elementary skills such as writing numbers, telling time, counting money, basic math facts, and place value. My students also have a lot going on in their personal lives from losing a parent to dealing with depression. Even though my students have many obstacles facing them everyday. They come into math class ready to learn. They will always give me one hundred percent effort.
