These math materials, especially the TI-calculator, will continue to enhance the growth mindset that I continuously strive to create . My project based math class is one that students really enjoy. I present the problem to the whole class. After a short discussion I differentiate the problem solving activity into three levels of difficulty. The level of difficulty depends on each student's present math ability. Every group has three to four students to work out the problem, All students have their own math journal to record all their work and discussions. We then come together as a class. Each group takes turns explaining and reporting their solutions. As the students are reporting, I chart the solutions. After the solutions are presented we discuss what other problems we may have discovered during our group work session. It is astounding to see my students interest and curiosity flourish with just the exploration of a simple everyday math problem. It is exciting to see every student engaged and willing to go further to discover new information! The main goal of my math class is to foster adaptive problem solving, creativity, self-directed learning, persistence, and GRIT! These math tools will be used on a daily basis to help each student succeed with their math learning and encourage each students' curiosity.
