My classroom philosophy is for the kids to have movement and ownership in the classroom. In order to do this students need to have the materials to allow them this movement. For example, students who feel restricted in their static chairs all the time do not feel that connection to their learning environment. The stools will be great for students who have movement issues such as kids with ADHD and sensory issues. Currently these students fidget sitting in their static chairs and tend to fall out of these chairs when they need to move. These Kore chairs allow them to move side to side and use their core in order to move about without being disruptive to other students while meeting their movement needs. My undergraduate degree is in Kinesiology and physical movement. I understand the need for movement and it’s link to overall attention span and learning. There is a huge connection that we, as teachers, need to embrace in order to get our kids the movement they need while they get the book learning they also require. It’s not separate!
