I am creating a Psychology of Wellness elective for my students this year because I feel that between the stress of school and the world, they need time to focus on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. My class will help them reflect on their habits and help them to build in time for intentionally improving their well-being with activities such as meditating, gratitude journaling, tracking sleep, exercise, and nutrition. I plan to use the resources from this project to have students create wellness journals that will act as the primary way for them to set goals, track behavior, and self-reflect. Using the spiral bound sketch book journals, classpack of markers, and glue sticks, they will create vision collages, keep gratefulness journals, track daily habits, and write reflections. These journals will also act as a dialogue between me and the students. I am hoping they will be a beautiful treasure for them to refer to even after the class is over.
