Academics are always a top priority in any school, but developmentally, they must be balanced out with breaks for the body and mind, especially with six- and seven-year-olds. Given the possibility that we may be confined to our classroom for safety's sake, I am trying to plan ahead regarding what the children will do for recess breaks that will take place without shared materials. My project, therefore, will involve funded items that can be split up and put into individual Ziploc bags for each student. Being that I am entering a new classroom where I have not had the opportunity to build up the supplies over the years, I am requesting donors to help with purchasing LEGO sets, Play-Doh, and cookie cutters to provide creative and imaginative play opportunities that will keep students as safe as possible while still giving them the downtime needed in between academics to refresh themselves for further learning time.
