I teach 3rd & 4th grade Special Education students in a high-need area of Washington, DC with varying exceptionalities. Society tells my students everyday that they can't and won't succeed because of per-affixed labels based on who they are and where they come from. My job is to look past their "disabilities" and demographics to provide them with the tools they need to succeed in my classroom and in life. During my first year with them I have seen them grow academically, become Special Olympics champs and beat their non-disabled peers to place as the 4th place team in our school science fair.

About my class
