In our 4th Grade classroom many students come from low-income homes in our small, Illinois community. Our district does not have extra money to buy resources so students can meet these new standards that they are expected to attain. Students in this room have a lot of energy and love to spend their free time playing with a few basic learning games I have developed using old board games, and some internet games I have utilized to give students more constructive free time. As in many classrooms, we have a wide range of students, some finish early while others are still working on the task at hand, and still others that may need a little more support for a certain concept. These new Common Core Learning Centers will be the perfect solution to help students spend all the time in the classroom learning and reinforcing what they have learned.
