Our school is a "Title 1"; we have a very limited budget for even the simplest supplies like expo markers and post-its. We often run out of paper in the school and copiers get jammed more times than I care to count. But I love this school. I love the demographic and I love that my students choose to come to school. This high school was is one of the most diverse schools in the nation, with students from almost every nation and language around the world. As you can imagine, our international nights are nights to remember. We have students leaving poverty in their own home countries, only to find hardship here in the US. Unfortunately, our school cannot always supply the teachers with our own basic needs for a standard classroom. My goal is to teach my students life skills that will help them become successful in life (and go to college!). These supplies will help me inspire scientific curiosity in my students!
