I teach six classes Aquatic Science at a low income and a high minority school. I teach 185 students, mainly 12th graders but I do have few 11th as well. We set up and maintain either 34 fresh or saltwater aquariums through the school year. Due to budget cuts from the state, district and school, we are short funds to do many of the projects we would like to do such as replacing our aquarium equipment as it dies from old age, dissecting squid and sharks, work with live marine invertebrates, and take a trip to Galveston for the day to explore the difference between the plants, animals, and water chemistry found on the bayside vs. the beachside of Galveston. If you would like to help fund any of our class projects, we would appreciate any support for the future generations of doctors, lawyers, and marine biologists.
