All students should have the opportunity to attend a symphony performance! Not only will my students have the opportunity to hear a symphony orchestra, they will be able to perform with the orchestra. Students will improve their music skills while practicing and preparing for "The Orchestra Swings" program. Students will meet the composers of this era: Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, and Louis Armstrong. Students will perform syncopated rhythms with swung eighth notes. Students will use movement to understand and experience these new rhythms. They will sing songs from the Swing Era and play melodies on their recorder. Students will improvise on the recorder and other instruments. Students will be "on stage" with a professional orchestra. Help me to give my students an opportunity to be part of a once-in-a lifetime opportunity.
