Independent reading is a daily activity in my classroom. Not only do I want my students to be proficient in the standards but I also want them to have the love of reading. Having books readily available to them will allow me to guide them to a book that is just right for them. This will keep them interested in reading and help them gain a wider vocabulary. My fourth graders need to have a variety of books to choose from during independent reading time to keep them from losing interest in reading. These books will help them to become more successful in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
