I am an Art teacher at an inner city, Title 1, elementary school. I teach grades K-5 and strive to help my students see the possibilities that Art can offer them and their community. We explore a variety of physical mediums and also look at how Art is used by different people from different regions of the world. We discuss how people use Art to express their experience. My intent is to provide my students with the opportunity to express themselves, and the understanding that this expression is valuable. I am also establishing connections with working artists in our city so that my students can learn that Art can be a career choice.
