I have an eclectic group of students this year. I teach 6 classes of math lab and 2 classes of Algebra Honors. That's a total of 187 students. I meet with my lab students every other day. My lab students tend to dislike math because they are not very successful at it. On top of not liking math, now they have 2 periods of math every other day. The students I teach come from a diverse population and most of them walk into my classroom with nothing. This is my 15th year as a math teacher and this school year has been a challenge. Having 6 math lab classes has been interesting. Not only do I have students that hate math but I have students who are disruptive too. The challenge for me was to get the students to feel comfortable in a math environment and to get students involved and excited about doing math, so this year I have implemented an interactive math notebook.
