My students love to come to school and learn new things. The demographics of the school I teach hover around 60% of students qualifying for free lunches. Many of my students do not have a computer at home; most have never used an eReader. One of the areas my students struggle with most is in vocabulary because we have a high ELL population that includes Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Somalian just to name a few. In my own usage of a Kindle, I have benefited from the dictionary feature of the eReader and know that students will, too. Additionally, if we are to educate our youth to become 21st century skill ready, using electronic devices such as the Kindle is a crucial first step.
