My students are a vibrant, diverse group of kids who LOVE to read and LOVE learning new things! We are a large school in California, with a population of almost 1500 students. Because of our growing numbers, our school still operates on a rotating track system and teacher's must move their classroom (and all of it's contents) to a different location every three months. This causes extreme wear and tear on classroom libraries that are in constant use and must be moved from place to place. In my classroom, the students are avid readers so I attempt to keep our library well stocked with both classic and current titles. It would be far easier and much more economical to handle a single device that holds over 100 titles than relocating 100's of books every 3 months. Books can be expensive, and damage to paperback books is expected after long usage. My kids want to do well, and work hard every day to prove that. Having Kindles in the classroom would be a great incentive.
