My amazing students are a wonderfully diverse group of energetic learners. They love to have access to our classroom computers any chance they get. Unfortunately, there are only two computers in our classroom for 22 students to share. Coming from an underprivileged community, few students have access to technology at home which makes that computer time even more precious to every student. With such energetic first graders, it is difficult to keep the students engaged in an activity for more than 10 minutes. However, it is vitally important because first grade is where they learn the basics of reading and math. These two iPad minis would give the students another way to engage in reading and math activities for longer periods of time. This time will become crucial to their fluency development in both reading and math.
