My school is located in Virginia and we are lucky to have a very diverse student population. Students bring many rich cultural experiences with them. Our school is located near suburban neighborhoods and shopping centers in a suburban area that is forty-five minutes from a major metropolitan city. We currently have 697 students from various cultures and socioeconomic groups. 223 of the students are eligible for free lunch and 71 are eligible for reduced lunch. 48.1% of students are white, 18.2% are Hispanic, and 14.3% are Black/African American. Our school has a philosophy of doing your personal best and provides a wide range of services and strategies that are used to help students meet their potential. Each grade level has art curriculum objectives that could be explored with the use of the large loom. They each need to create some type of weaving or fiber art textile project. I know they would be so excited to use this loom.
