I teach at an outstanding high school in Portland, Oregon. At my high school, our students are engaged and ready for rigorous course work. Our students face a lot of adversity in a district with a 65% poverty rate and limited resources. With these challenges, we have one of the most diverse high schools in state. I personally teach a health occupations program in which students learn about standard precautions (disease prevention). Students learn how to utilize protective gloves, gowns, masks, and eye goggles to prevent disease transmission. My students are focused and would like to pursue a health or medical career.
