Cooperative learning enhances student learning. When students work together in pairs or groups they are more engaged and it helps to increase their understanding of the content. The five dry erase rectangular tables provide students with a large work space when working cooperatively. The specific size of the table allows for 5-6 student to sit comfortably. During the day we also use various activities and structures to build our classroom community. Having students sit in prearranged groups allows for class building and team building. This helps to enhance the classroom community and create a safe learning environment for all. Whiteboards are used constantly in my classroom for students to show their work. Students love to use the whiteboards when solving problems. They are also helpful when trying to assess students or when using different cooperative learning structures. The five dry erase tables allow students to show their work right at their seat without having to locate their white board from their desk. Often whiteboards get lost, go missing or break and this will prevent those problems. Whiteboards will also no longer be an item on the school supply list that parents need to purchase. Also when working on an assignment as a group students can write directly on the table and each team member can add to it allowing students to work more collaboratively. Whiteboards will help to reduce the amount of lined notebook paper and chart paper used. With the added benefit of the tables to help with collaboration there is also a lack of storage due to no cubby that is typically there in a desk. The two cubby storage systems will allow students to store their folders and notebooks when not in use.
