If you look in a dictionary or goggle "resilient", you will find a picture of my students. They come from a tough little town full of hard working families who sometimes struggle to make ends meet. My students are grateful and appreciative for what they have and what they are given. The recent hurricane, Sandy, has displaced many of my students' families making it that much harder for the parents to provide even the basic needs. I recall our first day back to school after the hurricane, hearing stories of sadness and fear. We shared our experiences, supported and encouraged each other with positive words throughout that day. One thing I will never forget about that day was the pure joy and happiness the students and I felt about being back in school with each other and getting back into our normal routine.
