Many times our students have medical diagnoses that are causing them to become overwhelmed with emotions. When this​ occurs, they come to my office to cool down and start learning those necessary coping skills to be successful in the classroom and in the community. When students walk into my office and start playing with the sand I can see the stress come off their bodies and they start relaxing and communicating what they need to say. When their hands are in the sand and the soft sounds of the water surround them, they find peace. This is what I want to give to my students.
