I would like to create a safe place in my classroom where my students can get ready to learn. If my students have the opportunity to have their sensory needs met, they will be more successful in learning throughout the school day. The sensory area will provide a space for the students to calm their bodies and become grounded for the school day. Theses items incorporate a specialized selection of sensory equipment and materials that can help my students adapt their responses to sensory stimulation and to advance education and therapy goals. The blends of sights, sounds, textures, aromas, and motion provide stimulation of the primary sensory systems and can be modified to meet each child's sensory needs. These items include: water/sand table, liquid floor tiles, Kids Balance balls, yoga mats, and sensory socks.
