My students live and learn in a rough neighborhood located in Illinois's biggest city. Over 97% of my students come from low income and diverse families where greater than 20% of the student population is considered special needs. They attend a public school where the staff and administration are very supportive and deeply care about their education and overall well being. At our school we know many of the students come from difficult and challenging backgrounds and we strive everyday to enrich and develop their young minds. In return the students make us laugh, sometimes cry and overall inspire us to continue to lead and educate them.
