Future leaders of tomorrow describe my kids! They are very inquisitive and love to apply their learning to real world situations. I teach over 615 students in kindergarten to fifth grade in my STEM lab each week. My students come with a range of prior experiences and knowledge. Some of them have social challenges but find solace when they engage in inquiry and engineering based activities. My students learn in a variety of ways and are excited when they make academic connections that build on to their understanding of the world around them. STEM activities really are a great equalizer between my children from poverty neighborhoods and those from middle to high income neighborhoods. It is so rewarding when a student, who struggles academically or behaviorally, takes the lead in their group because they can "think outside the box." As a teacher . . . as a parent . . . as a donor, this is why we do what we do!
