Skipping football season, tailgates, rallies, and school dances are painful to students. Kids miss spending time with their friends and desperately need to stay connected. Virtual events are fun, but some students are hesitant to join in ... until we offer prizes. Incentives are the fastest way to get kids to show up in space. Once we have them, we can work on the disconnectedness all the kids are feeling during this time of distance learning. A prize will draw kids into our large scale virtual rooms and help us spread school spirit. Offering prizes that support distance learning spins the narrative of these times. Good headphones, art supplies, and a lap desk …. every kid needs one!
