I teach 3rd grade Reading and Social Studies at a Charter school in Texas and a large portion of the student population is considered below the poverty line. Many qualify for reduced/free lunches and are often not able afford even the basics- such as school supplies. My students are creative, energetic and eager to learn. They enter the classroom each day with excitement and anticipation, ready to see what they can learn.
