The school I work in is a Title I school, in an urban setting, and has a beautifully diverse population. I am a reading intervention teacher and work with classes of 7th and 8th grade students, who did not score proficiently on our state's mastery test. My students are intuitive and inquisitive young people who learn differently from their peers. As a reading teacher, I am always looking for ways to help my students become more confident readers, and study after study has shown that the best reading intervention is ... reading.
