My students are wonderfully curious; they are leaders; they are balls of energy and opinions; they are twelve. My students are part of a public school program aimed at project and place-based education. We are an integrated team of teachers, working to implement STEM, leadership, community, critical thinking and stewardship in all that our students do. We take girls into the woods after making them change their shoes. We bring boys back into the classroom once they leave their sticks at the door. My students are leaders and outdoor enthusiasts, or at least creative onlookers, in the making.
