I do not believe in assigning students a spot to sit. I feel that kids need options throughout the day about where to sit, who to sit by, whether they want to be standing at a high table or laying on the carpet. For this reason, my students have options in my classroom in which they can choose to sit. These options help with sensory needs (rocking chairs), social issues (not sitting next to somebody who you may have had a social issue with) and academic reasons (group work vs. independent work). I would love for my students to have more options, as some of my current seating options are getting worn out. I am looking for funding to provide us comfy floor seats and wobble chairs, both of which will empower different types of learners.
