My students are going to have an amazing year. My district is in the process of bringing music back to the community!! I am excited to be a part of this project on the elementary level, offering weekly music classes for every elementary grade level, Kindergarten through sixth grade. I serve a community that receives students from the area, as well as students from the inner city. They are a diverse population that is struggling with reaching their potential, but I plan on making music not only a rigorous learning experience, but a place where they feel cared for and accepted. While this program has been renewed, it needs a great deal to establish a quality program for the hundreds of students it serves. It has the full support of the teaching staff, administration, families, and music educators. Now it needs some essentials to get the songs started, the piano playing, and to create a welcoming environment!
