My students came in with a deficit in their basic foundational academic skills due to the pandemic. They need their basic academic needs meet but also interventions to address their deficiencies they have encountered. We are trying to address these deficiencies with corrective lessons that fill in gaps that are missing academically. The student are diagnosed online in both math and ELA using I-Ready program. They are then placed at their academic level and are assigned an individualized program online. This program helps them to work on skills needed to be successful in 5th grade. They need headphones to listen and speak in order to properly advance throughout the program. The problem arises in that we do not have enough headphones for each student to properly listen/speak during their academic intervention program times. Some students bring their own headphones but tend to forget them on many occasions. For others headphones are provided by the school but not enough and those tend to only last a few weeks. I have purchased some cheaper ones but again those do not last long. These headphones are used on a daily basis. Having a dependent class set of headphones in the classroom on a daily basis would help fix this problem.
