About my class

Every day, I am tasked with running reading groups while the rest of my class is independently working. I have always been so frustrated with inevitably giving the children busy, non-challenging work in an effort to keep them quiet while I'm giving small group instruction. It's not the teacher I want to be and I don't believe in wasting even one minute of my students' time. With your help, I can run learning stations that provide my students with real, meaningful learning experiences. One of the best ways for kids to learn fluency is to listen to fluent reading. A well-stocked listening center with well working equipment and vibrant texts will be so beneficial. The STEM supplies, building materials that challenge the children to solve "engineering" type problems can provide the kids with higher level thinking tasks that are so crucial to the advancement of our society. Quiet reading can be more fun sitting on fun cushions and with fun tables; a great way to show the children that reading is not just something you do sitting at a desk at school, but as a daily fun hobby that people do for fun and relaxation. My goal is to have everyone actively learning during this crucial time. I'm not a "worksheet" person--I love interactive activities. This "project" is a dream of mine.
