Many of my student's families are struggling financially. They live in one of the poorest cities in Michigan. I have 31 fifth graders in my class this year and many are reading below grade level. Five students are reading at least three grades behind and just want to be seen reading the same books as the other students. Audio books would provide them with this opportunity. They attend a title one elementary school that does not have extra resources and/or technology available. Nor is money available for new purchases for the school library.
