This is my second year teaching in the public school system. I work with students (Kindergarten through 5th grade) who have moderate to profound disabilities in a self contained classroom. Most of my students do not have the ability to communicate verbally with the people around them. My students also have limited fine motor skills and need many opportunities to practice their developing skills. Art and music provide creative outlets for my students to communicate their thoughts and feelings; develop fine motor skills; and bring joyfulness in to their day.
