Most of our students come to us from a low-income background. Our students are engaged and interested in developing as writers and readers. Because they have not always been given the opportunities for engagement, they find my Junior and Senior English to be eye-opening and challenging. They work very diligently, writing a paper a week in response to their reading. My students need the resources they have not been given in the past in order to make up for the deficits they have now. Because of their wonderful attitude, sometimes atypical of high school students, I am interested in fostering this love of learning.
