I teach in a rural, but educated school district where we focus rigor and literacy with high expectations for all students. When my sixth graders walk into my classroom, they know that I will challenge them, but they also know that it's okay to make mistakes. They also know that my classroom is the safest place to make those mistakes as long as they learn from them. My students are actively engaged every day in interactive lessons which enrich their learning and accommodate their different learning styles. My students leave my classroom feeling successful in some area, whether it be geometry, algebra, or the dreaded fractions. My goal for me students at the end of the year is to have a better respect and love for mathematics.
