As an inclusion teacher, I co-teach in a diverse learning environment. From gifted learners to exceptional learners, the classroom consists of students with various abilities and ranges of skills. Attending school, in inner-city Phoenix, can sometimes drain the students of their youthfulness. With so many responsibilities and expectations, the scholars feel as if school is just one more chore for them to complete. Underneath the weary and reluctant appearance, lie students who are filled with energy, curiosity, a passion for learning, and vibrancy. These students have dreams, but their nightmare is that their dreams will never be fulfilled for lack of resources and opportunities. Although I do not teach at the Ron Clark Academy, in Atlanta, I am aware of the techniques that are being used to prepare students for life and a career - not a job. I want to bring that same level of energy and passion into our school, into the classroom, and into the lives of our students. They deserve it.
