My students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds with 96% or more on free/reduced lunch. At our school we not only provide students and families with academic support, but also support for their everyday life. We work very hard to create a sense of community and make everyone comfortable at our school. My greatest joy of teaching my students is helping them realize their potential and gain confidence in themselves in order for them to grow both as a person and academically, so they are a successful citizen as an adult. As a school, we are constantly analyzing, reflecting, and creating academic goals with our students to fill gaps and accelerate learning. Due to their backgrounds, the majority of our students do not have access to technology most take for granted. Students do not have the background in basic computer skills needed in today's classroom or workforce.
