One area where we constantly struggle in the classroom is access to technology. Having 5th grade students requires us to use technology for many different reasons. One thing we would love to do more of is research projects. Having only two computers in the classroom and sharing two computer labs with 20 other teachers, projects like that are very limited. Since most of my students come from low income families, most of them do not have the privilege of having a computer at home. Having an extra Chromebook in our classroom will not only help us with research projects, but also with typing our essays and using our educational websites like Lexia, Khan Academy, and Read Works.
