My amazing students are a wonderful snapshot of America. They come from the impoverished up to middle class. They have bonded together to make up a broadcast news class that has been recognized for the quality of their work. We are a Title I school of 1700 plus students which is located in Texas. We are a fine arts magnet school. We have recently opened up to 8th grade students this broadcasting class along with photo journalism, yearbook and newspaper as high school credit courses. Each student researches, interviews, scripts and produces this newscast which includes school, local and national news for the students that attend our school. As the teacher, I have seen them grow both academically and socially and watched them find a passion for what is going on in their world. The students of this class include all academic levels and the students have become a team of journalists.
