Everyone has heard that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover...but try telling that to a struggling reader! Reluctant readers need brightly colored, engaging texts that will make them pick up a book and never want to put it down. My students are just discovering their love of reading, but our outdated classroom library leaves them with very few options that pique their interest. I have been able to score some great bargains on the latest fictional books, but I struggle to find engaging non-fiction texts that interest my emerging readers. The Who Was series, along with Storyworks and Time for Kids classroom magazines, are titles that will grab readers' interest and the content will have them reading well past time to head to their next class!
