Seventy-one percent of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. The majority of our students are minorities, either African American or Hispanic. We are a small town in a rural area. Our students already face so many challenges due to socio-economic status. By rebuilding our AP program, we hope to better prepare students for post-secondary education through increased rigor and expectations. AP requires a significant amount of supplemental reading material, and our budget simply is not able to provide these materials.
