My students are 6-8th graders eager to improve and find success despite the challenges that come their high poverty neighborhood. The middle school I am in is 100% African American, in an urban setting, and most students are on free or reduced lunch. They do not have a school library, but they are interested in reading about many topics ranging from career opportunities to how fast cheetahs can run.
