I have the brightest, most eager to learn students in the world! They are lucky in that they attend an arts magnet school. They get to learn science, music, technology, and art, which is interwoven into their curriculum. There are many reasons I am motivated to commute an hour each way to teach these children. One is comments like Santiago's when I asked him what he wanted to do most in coming to First Grade. He said "I get to read as many books as you will let me." And a comment that another student said as I told them all that we had a three day weekend. He said "Awww, do we have to be gone so long. It's so boring at home. School is fun!" It's my job to not only teach the students the standards, but to encourage and help to build a love for lifelong learning. Please be my partner in nurturing their love for learning and shaping their futures.
