I work at a Title 1 school in a city setting as an Academic Intervention Teacher in the areas of math and reading. My job centers on the philosophy of helping young students with academic deficits to try and move them along with their grade level peers and avoid the need for repeating a grade level or more serious interventions such as special education. My average student loves school....that's right, they love school! They love their teachers, having a secure and safe school setting, happy peers, breakfast and lunch as well as a routine to count on every day. I am asking for this donation to take their love of school to the next level.....to help them love the academic ventures of school as well! They learn through hands-on activities that engage them cognitively as well as physically through games and center based learning. Please help me reach my fall goal for the academic year of 2014-2015 and make my first day of school one of wonder, excitement and math activity.
