My students are an energetic bunch of kids. They are from a lower socio-economic area that results in stereotypes and stigmas which they feel they must fulfill. I have students who are gentle and quite and I have some who are very loud and defensive. They come from where you must be loud to be heard and must be physical with body or vicious with words to be right. My students are not malicious or evil kids. They are quite sweet, innovative, creative, and helpful. The switch just turns so quick when they feel as though someone or something is out to hurt them or betray them. This causes them to lash out in a negative way with their peers. For example, several arguments happen and grown out of control from what someone may see as a small thing. A classmate bumps another person's arm. The other person says it was a hit and it turns into a screaming match. The victim is in trouble for screaming and then yells at a teacher for being in trouble. The hindsight is missing.
