My students are a diverse, awesome group of eighth-grade scholars from various areas of New York City. I have 121 students; we are a screened public middle school. I am the sole eighth-grade mathematics teacher as well as head of the mathematics department. Most of our students were members of our school community for sixth and seventh grades as well and I am always proud of the bonds and relationships that students form here, whether they have just entered or whether they've known each other since elementary school. We pride ourselves on our rigorous curricula and attention to partner/groupwork and discourse.
