My students are elementary aged and LOVE to come to school. It is the one constant in their lives! The support of staff and community provide these impoverished children with a lot of their 'bare necessities'. These children have little access to health care and come to the clinic for ALL sorts of reasons: cough, runny nose, bleeding, asthma, boo-boos, and hugs. School clinics are not allowed to give simple medication such as Tylenol and cough drops, so we must get creative in helping these young students feel well. The tissues that you provide will immediately help to stop the spread of germs. The student's will use them to cover coughs and wipe runny noses. The gloves will be distributed to teachers, to wear when a boo-boo is really bloody, again preventing infection. And the peppermints, oh how they soothe a sore throat! Any item provided to the clinic is immediately ready to be provided to a student in need. Our goal is to keep children healthy and ready to learn.
