Having access to a classroom library full of diverse books will help my students to combat implicit bias, show kindness to everyone, and build community. My students will be introduced to the narratives of people of all different colors, cultures, and backgrounds. With these books, they will learn respect, kindness, empathy, love, and appreciation. These books features main characters of color and characters with other underrepresented identities. The themes of respecting differences, caring for one another, showing kindness, and questioning assumptions are visible throughout. These diverse books will help all of my students feel included, represented, and valued.
