My students are mostly Spanish-speaking, but also include Chinese and African speakers. Some of them were born abroad; many were born here. In both cases, English is their second (or third) language, and they are working hard to master it so they will be successful in school and in life. My students are hard-working, ambitious, and generous. They attend a K-8 public school in New York, and they aspire to go to great high schools and universities.
